DAKSHINA KANNADA–MANGALURU:
A major explosion and fire at the Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) facility near Jokatte on September 30 claimed the life of 30-year-old contract worker Manish Karkara of Mulki and injured several others.
A major railway administrative change takes effect today, with the Mangaluru railway region coming under the South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division after being under Southern Railway’s Palakkad Division. Operational control has already been shifted to Mysuru. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are also forecast in isolated parts of Dakshina Kannada.
