Jayakrishna A. Shetty Calls for Greater Youth Participation and People-Centric Development
MUMBAI: Having dedicated 26 years to the overall development of the coastal region through various public-oriented initiatives, the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti (NGO) has now entered its 27th year of service. This remarkable journey has been made possible through the dedication, commitment and collective efforts of everyone who has stood alongside the organisation’s founder, Tonse Jayakrishna A. Shetty, since its inception. It is important to recognise and appreciate the invaluable contributions of all those who have worked tirelessly for the organisation. I have also been extending my services to the association to the best of my ability from the very beginning. Let us continue this journey with renewed enthusiasm, unity and commitment to fulfil the organisation’s future plans, said Nityananda D. Kotian, President of the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti.

The 26th Annual General Meeting of the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti was held at the Peninsula Grand Hotel, Sakinaka, Mumbai, in the esteemed presence of the organisation’s founder, Tonse Jayakrishna A. Shetty. Presiding over the meeting, President Nityananda D. Kotian congratulated District Working President Hariesh Kumar Shetty and his entire team for their commendable efforts in successfully organising the organisation’s Silver Jubilee celebrations in Mangaluru.
He observed that the organisation’s activities and contributions towards the development of the coastal districts had gained the attention and recognition of several political leaders. Assuring that the association would continue its dedicated efforts without any shortcomings, he called upon all members to work together with a common vision for the development of the districts. He further emphasised the importance of undertaking socially beneficial initiatives that would directly improve the lives of ordinary people.
The organisation’s Honorary General Secretary, Mundkur Surendra Salian, presented the annual report for the previous year along with the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting. Honorary Treasurer Sadananda Acharya presented the financial statement for the year.
Addressing the gathering, founder Tonse Jayakrishna A. Shetty expressed his appreciation for the collective dedication, unity and tireless efforts of all members, which had made the grand celebration of the organisation’s 25th anniversary Silver Jubilee possible. He recalled that several political dignitaries, including two senior ministers from the state, had participated in the celebrations, providing the organisation with a valuable opportunity to bring important issues concerning the development of the districts to their attention.

Emphasising the need to involve the younger generation more actively in the organisation’s activities, he said that the association, as a non-governmental organisation, had been consistently and systematically bringing various problems faced by the districts to the attention of the government. The organisation had successfully fulfilled its responsibility by highlighting these concerns and presenting them before the appropriate authorities. It was now the responsibility of the government and the concerned departments to take necessary measures to resolve the issues.
He further stated that under the leadership of District Working President Hariesh Kumar Shetty, nearly 80 per cent of the work relating to various development initiatives in the district had already been completed. The remaining responsibilities rested with the government and the concerned authorities, who needed to take the necessary steps to complete them.
He also highlighted several important public-interest issues that required continued attention, including the construction of protective barriers to prevent coastal erosion, uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply and the eradication of communalism. The organisation would adopt appropriate resolutions on these matters and continue to pursue them with the concerned authorities.
He added that the Jayashreekrishna Parisara Premi Samiti had been consistently striving to promote development initiatives that would benefit not only the present generation but also generations to come. By bringing public concerns to the government’s attention and urging the authorities to take appropriate action, the organisation had been fulfilling its commitment to public welfare and the overall development of the coastal districts. These efforts would continue with the same dedication and determination.
Speaking on the occasion, District Working President Hariesh Kumar Shetty stated that the district committee, constituted by the central committee, had successfully discharged all the responsibilities entrusted to it. Several development projects had already been completed, while the successful implementation of the remaining initiatives required the continued support and cooperation of the central committee.
He explained that the district committee had been functioning effectively and had undertaken several significant initiatives, including arranging bus services from Mangaluru International Airport and addressing issues concerning the supply of Netravati river water, along with various other development-related matters. Efforts to translate these initiatives into reality were progressing positively. He also appreciated the district committee members for their valuable contribution towards the successful organisation of the Silver Jubilee celebrations and appealed for everyone’s continued cooperation in taking forward the remaining development projects.
